19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his first title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court after that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
